Lutina likes to think she was born on a night when the three moons were full and there were fairies flitting about in the forest and magic in the air, and since her mother died when she was young and her father never bothered to dissuade her of the notion, for all she knows it might be perfectly true.

Her father, a hunter, wasn't sure how to properly raise a daughter on his own, so he simply did his best, and since Lutina's mother wasn't there to teach her everything she knew, he decided he would just have to be a substitute - and so instead of learning to cook and sew, Lutina was raised learning to sneak about in the forest, track animals, shoot a bow, and find her way without a map.

She took to the lessons well, although she didn't really like the idea of shooting animals. She loved the forest, though, and spent quite a bit of her childhood there, talking to the animals (who she was quite convinced could understand her perfectly well, and most people just didn't know how to listen to them) and climbing trees and generally getting dirty and making some of the widows in the town (one of whom had her eye on Lutina's father) sigh and wring their hands and wonder what was to be done about that girl.

The widow in question did try to invite Lutina in during some of her free time during the day and teach her some of the things she should've learned from her own mother, but she never really took to the lessons and none of it seemed to interest her much.

Until she hit on dancing.

Lutina immediately showed a natural talent for dancing; she was graceful and quick to learn and it wasn't long before she got very good at it, and soon she announced to her father that she wanted to be a dancer. It perhaps wasn't the most respectable of professions, but he was so glad to see her finally learning things he couldn't have ever taught her that he threw his full support behind her (and married the widow who'd taught her to dance in the first place, who according to the village gossip had been a bit wild in her own heyday).

She set off at the age of fifteen to make her way in the world, financing her travels with performances at the towns she passed through, and she was doing quite well with it - until one day a young man in the audience, wanting to show his appreciation for a job well done but lacking any money, offered her a worn but quite usable journal he said he had no real use for.

She accepted it graciously, kissed him on the cheek, and turned to leave and fell flat on her face.

Magic may not be part of the normal routine in Avern, but you wouldn't know it from talking to Lutina. She's a bit dreamy and quite convinced that there's magic everywhere you turn - that fairies and forest spirits exist and work their influence on a daily basis, and if people don't see them, well, they're just not looking hard enough!

She's friendly and rarely has a cruel word for anyone - if she finds that she won't be able to at least be civil to someone, she'd rather stop talking to them entirely. She's not reserved about touching others, and though she doesn't intentionally invade their personal space, she's a very huggy, hands-on type of girl who'll cheerfully get quite close to you if you let her. She doesn't play it up to be seductive, and anyone who takes it as a come-on and responds in kind might just get a slap to the face.

She loves to travel, and is continuing to float about Kalria despite having lost her primary means of financing her travels - she's made up for it by finding odd jobs in the places she lands, or occasionally by relying on the kindness of strangers - which she repays by doing what she can for strangers she meets, whenever she has the chance. She's a big believer in the idea that you get back what you put into the world, and so she does her best to make sure that her cycle is entirely positive.

Lutina has long teal hair that she likes to wear down so it can blow dramatically in the wind, though of course sometimes that just means it gets tangled dramatically in the wind but she's quite used to that, really, and it's not a bother at all but thank you for your kind concern!

She used to move gracefully, practically floating about even when doing the most mundane of things, but since she found her journal, she mostly trips and stumbles, though occasionally she makes it a ways without a massive bout of clumsiness and is immensely pleased when does.

She smiles a lot, though she's quite capable of having her serious moments every now and then.
